Every time I come back to New Orleans I’m reminded why I fell in love. The random witty greeting of a cyclist, the determination of a resident to make it work, the fact that it’s sunny and beautiful in March and I just left snow and 17 degree weather back home.
I was at a show tonight at DBA on Frenchmen Street. The singer is quintessential New Orleans. Jazz rhythms and perky lyrics fill the air. Between songs she jokes with the band and announces to feverish applause that she spent the first night in her house since “the hurricane”.
It’s been 922 days since Katrina hit.
