The second of three Historic Green rain gardens – this one at home of Kathy Muse on Royal Street – was designed and built during Week Two of the event. The "before" and "after" photos pretty much tell the story: compacted soils and storm sewer problems earlier this winter created a pool of water in front of Kathy's house after every rainfall.
Thanks to a 2nd team of rain garden volunteers, this group led by Jennifer Gunby, a civil/site development specialist with George Butler Associates, Inc. of Lenexa, Kansas, created an amazing new space – complete with native plantings and new landscaping.
