Week One of Historic Green saw many accomplishments – including the design and construction of a much-needed rain garden for Marna David's house on Douglass Street. Faced with severe flooding and drainage problems in her yard after nearly every rain, she welcomed the opportunity to host demonstration site on her property.
A volunteer team led by Scott Blossom, of Williamsburg Environmental Group, Inc. in Williamsburg, Virginia, worked with Marna to create this beautiful rain garden designed to improve water absorption – complete with special plantings, a specially landscaped drainage basin, and a rain barrel.
